Doctors in China remove 16ft tapeworm from man who loves to eat raw meat

Tapeworms in humans aren't an odd sight, unless of course they measure in at 16ft. 45-year-old Chen from Guangxi, south China who loves to eat raw beef and fish complained of stomach problems to doctors. Tests were carried out by his city's Gastroenterology department which revealed the tapeworm and even then, it took five days to extract.

Doctors determined the parasite had come from contaminated raw food and studied it to discover how it grew so long in its host. Tapeworms - or taenia saginata as they are known scientifically - has eggs which hatch in cattle and are carried through the body by the animal's circulatory system. The egges hatch three months after human consumption and develop into adults in the small intestine which according to scientists have a life expectancy of 60years. To think someone could carry it around almost all their life.

Doctors have advised that meat and fish fans should be wary when eating unregulated and under cooked-produce - and that if raw beef is consumed, it should be chilled well beforehand.

Jose Mourinho signs pre- contract deal with Man U...will be paid £15m if he isn't appointed by June 1

Jose Mourinho has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United to take over as the new coach of the club this summer. The Portuguese coach has been linked with Manchester United ever since he was sacked by former club Chelsea in December, but has now signed a pre- contract agreement with Manchester United according to an exclusive report by top Spanish newspaper El País.

According to the report Mourinho will be paid up to £15m if by June 1, 2016 the club refuses to employ him.

“If United do not sign the final contract [with Mourinho] before 1 May, they must pay £5m; if by 1 June he’s still not signed, they shall pay another £10m. May is the key, because it’s the month in which the vast majority of the signings of players are closed and the plans formed.” Read the report.

El País claim that the clause has been included because senior figures at Old Trafford, including Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton, are not entirely convinced that Mourinho is the right man to succeed Louis van Gaal.

Senior officials at Manchester United like Ed Woodward have refused to deny the report.

Meanwhile Beyonce's life-long friend Kelly Rowland also says there is no feud between both stars.

“They are two women who support each other,” Rowland said to SXSW. “The rest of the world starts the rivalry. They are very secure women.”
